Google Ads Agency Account: What It Is and How to Get One

The Adtucon toucan pointing

A Google Ads agency account is an ordinary Google Ads account linked to an agency's manager account, usually paid through the agency's billing instead of your own card, and you get one from a provider, not from Google.

The search tends to start the same way. A card gets declined on a Saturday, the campaign that was finally working goes dark, and someone in a Telegram group says you need an agency account. That advice is half right. The account sorts out who pays Google and who picks up when something breaks. What Google will let you advertise doesn't move, and the rest of this guide keeps those two things apart.

Key takeaways
  1. A Google Ads agency account is an ordinary Google Ads account linked to an agency's manager account, usually paid through the agency's billing.
  2. You get one from a provider. If you qualify for monthly invoicing, you may not need one at all.
  3. The account changes who pays Google and who you call. Policies, certifications, ad review and verification stay as they were.
  4. When an agency manages your ads, Google wants that declared in verification. Getting it wrong can pause or suspend the account.

What does Google call an agency account?

In the help pages we read, Google talks about manager accounts and client accounts. The market made up the rest.

A manager account lets an agency view and manage many Google Ads accounts from one login. Google is plain about what it is. It "isn't an 'upgrade' of your Google Ads account", it's "an entirely new Google Ads account you create", an umbrella with other accounts linked underneath.

Remember that line the next time a seller leans on the word MCC. Having a manager account proves very little, because it's something a business creates for itself, and even its size is tied to spend. One whose top month is under $10,000 can hold 50 active accounts, and one between $10,000 and $500,000 can hold 2,500. The value, when there is any, sits in the billing arrangement behind it and in the people who answer when you write.

Read every check

The last row comes from Google's own rule. It requires a separate account for each end-advertiser an agency manages, because account history feeds Quality Score and mixing advertisers in one account would misrepresent all of them. We couldn't find a Google page saying a manager account passes trust down to the accounts under it. If a provider tells you it does, ask for the link.

Certification works the same way. Google's circumventing systems policy names "using several accounts, either gradually or all at once, to promote products or services for which you lack the necessary Google Ads certifications" as a violation. An agency account is no way around that, and the policy suspends on detection.

Google is plain about what it is.

Who actually needs one?

You probably do if payment is the thing that keeps stopping you, or if you'd rather fund Google from the same panel as your other platforms than keep a card alive for each. It also helps when you can't reach monthly invoicing yet. Google's requirements include being a registered business for at least a year, six months of an active account in good standing, and $5,000 a month in any 3 of the last 12 months. A newer company or a new entity can't get there on its own.

Volume can push you too. Up to 20 accounts can sit on one email address, and Google limits new billing setups to 15 accounts a week on an automatic or manual payments profile, against 1,500 on a monthly invoicing profile.

You probably don't if your account runs clean, your card clears and you've never hit a wall. You'd be paying a fee for nothing. If you meet Google's invoicing requirements, apply to Google yourself first and come back if that doesn't work.

How do you get a Google Ads agency account?

  1. Check your product before anything else. Google has extra requirements for gambling and games, healthcare and medicines, financial products, cryptocurrencies, dating services in Japan and several other industries. Find out where you stand before you send anyone money, because no provider can switch those rules off.
  2. Choose a provider and ask what stands behind the account. Whose manager account is it, whose billing, how much room is on the line, and who else shares it? Our 12 questions cover the rest, and our comparison shows how providers answer in public.
  3. Decide between a new account and your existing one. A manager account can create a new account or link an existing one. Linking needs someone with access to your account to accept. Users with admin access can end the link at any time, but a manager account can also be given ownership of a client account, and then it manages who has access. Ask who will hold what before you accept.
  4. Complete advertiser verification when Google asks. Details in the next section.
  5. Fund the account with a few days of spend. There's no reason to park a month of budget on one account in your first week.
  6. Launch the offer you declared. If the landing page changes after someone has checked it, the check means nothing.

You probably don't if your account runs clean, your card clears and you've never hit a wall.

What does Google ask for in verification?

Google says all advertisers will eventually have to complete it. You'll get an in-account notice or an email with your deadline, and your account will be paused if you miss it. Reviews can take up to 5 business days, and Google says up to 30 in rare cases, so start early.

TaskWhat it involvesOn an agency account
Questions about the organizationType of organization and who pays for the adsWhoever manages ads for a client has to select Yes to "Is your organization an agency?". Otherwise the account "may be paused or suspended"
The agency's infoD-U-N-S, documents or phone confirmationDone by the agency
The client's infoThe client's payments profile, plus organization or individual tasks if that profile isn't verifiedThe agency can complete the task or send you a link
DocumentsRegistration documents or IDThe name and location on the payments profile must exactly match the documents
Business operationsYour organization, products, ads and relationships with other organizations"Most advertisers won't see this task"

Once verified, the advertiser's name and location show in ad disclosures and the Ads Transparency Center, so this isn't paperwork that stays in a drawer. On a verified agency account the "ads funded by" line uses the client's payments profile.

Ask any provider, us included, whose name the account is verified under. Google lists "verifying your customer's account as your own" among the identity violations for third parties.

Verification also feeds two limits most buyers don't plan for. Google often puts a daily spending limit on new or recently changed accounts and on accounts pending verification, and that limit overrides your campaign budgets. Then there's limited ad serving. In August 2026 Google said the policy would cover all Google Ads, rolling out gradually and finishing by 2028. Unqualified advertisers get capped impressions in certain scenarios, and verification status is one of the factors alongside account maturity and policy history. We go through both in where to get a Google Ads account with no spending limits.

What does a Google Ads agency account cost?

You pay your ad spend plus whatever the provider charges, which is usually a percentage of top ups, a flat monthly plan or a mix of both. Our cost guide has the break-even maths and the prices other providers publish, read on 1 November 2026.

Our Google rate isn't on a public list. Your rate depends on vertical and volume. One message in chat gets you the number.

Check your product before anything else.

What happens if the account gets suspended?

The same as on any Google Ads account. Ads stop, and the account goes read-only until an appeal succeeds. Google also says accounts related to a suspended account may be suspended, and new ones the advertiser tries to create may be suspended too. A fresh agency account doesn't reset that. If yours is already down, read what a circumventing systems suspension means before you open anything new, and what happens to your balance before you top up again.

How does this work with Adtucon?

You ask for Google accounts from the Adtucon Platform, and your balance sits in your team wallet. A top up moves it to the account you pick, a top down moves it back.

Before you pay, we check your vertical. Verification Support is included, which means we go through your legal details, domain and documents with you before the task opens. Google makes the decision. On top of that, Adtucon Certified is our own programme of public checks, issued by us and never by a platform. Opening an account is free, certifying it is free, and if an account can't come back you get a new one at no charge. On percentage plans you pay nothing until your first deposit. The fee comes out of each deposit.

Your rate depends on vertical and volume.

We print delivery times only where we've counted them, and on Google we haven't, so you'll get a date in chat. We also don't claim a Google partner badge, and Is Adtucon legit? covers that and shows you where to check.

If you already use a provider, you can keep them and open a Google account with us as a backup. Start with our Google Ads accounts, compare platforms on the full list, or tell us your vertical and we'll say what we can do. If you bring clients instead of running them yourself, our partner programme pays 30% of the fees we collect, for life.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Google Ads agency account?

It's a normal Google Ads account linked to an agency's manager account, and usually paid through the agency's billing. Agency account is the market's name for it. Google's help pages talk about manager accounts and client accounts.

Is a manager account the same as an agency account?

No. A manager account, or MCC, is the umbrella account an agency logs in to. The agency account is the client account linked under it. Google says a manager account isn't an upgrade, it's a separate account you create.

Can I link my existing Google Ads account to an agency?

Google allows it. A manager account sends a link request and someone with access to your account accepts. Whether it suits you depends on how the provider bills, so ask before you accept, and ask who will hold admin access.

Does an agency account let me run ads Google would refuse?

No. The same policies and certifications apply. Google lists using several accounts to promote products you aren't certified for as circumventing systems.

How much does a Google Ads agency account cost with Adtucon?

Your rate depends on vertical and volume. One message in chat gets you the number. Opening the account costs nothing.
